I am new to using 4K content. I have few 4K HEVC mkv files. When try to play back on my NUC5i5RYH Kodi 17 just crashes. Would this be due to 5th Gen CPU? I have few H.265 4K files and they seem to play but CPU is high when playback.
Thinking getting new 7th Gen NUC when out so would this be the way to go for 4K?

I know I have come late to this thread and if this is answered elsewhere then I apologise but I cannot wade through over 600 posts.
I downloaded the link in post #7 to my NUC 5i5RYH and saved it in the Windows Download folder.
I have DivX installed but when trying to run the file DivX crashes. When trying on Microsoft Films and TV I get audio but no video. On VLC it runs perfectly, both audio and video.
What I am unable to do and for which I seek help here is to run it on Kodi. I use Confluence (old habits die hard), so I go VIDEOS>Files>Add videos>then I browse to the Downloads folder and it shows nothing even though the video file is an .mkv type.
What must I do to get Kodi to find and play this file?
Thanks in advance.
