Kodi - server, client, or both ?
#1
Hi,
For a while I've been thinking about getting Amazon FTV. But now I have decided to go for a simple HTPC (Pipox7) running Windows 8.1.
I want to keep my pictures, music etc files on my desktop PC, not on the HTPC.
In a Plex world I would have the server software on the desktop, and client software on the HTPC.

How is it with Kodi? There is only one piece of software. Does it have to be running on both computers, or is it enough to have it on the HTPC?

You only need Kodi on the HTPC. The desktop just needs to use some form of file sharing (wiki), which pretty much every OS has included in some form. Something like SMB (wiki) or NFS (wiki).
