Weird, I can.

That is, the github example i linked to is limited to the Kodi/XBMC home folder because of the special:// as path. But i can go anywhere in there, like to other skin's.

Metroid skin: Setings->Skin Settings->Background->Menu background image

Then press back to go higher up the path again

You can also set a default image by pointing at it's path instead

I use it to change the display icon of a custom addon.
If I press to change the icon with your method, the string gets set to a location
then file browser gets opened.

If I then change my mind and decide i don't like the icons, I exit without making a choice

I get an empty icon

Also if you do this?
