Cannot open some folders
#1
Hi, I've recently installed Kodi on Raspbian and I'm having troubles accessing some directories on my external disk (ext4). I don't understand why, there is nothing special about them, I can open them fine in Raspbian. The logs just shows:

21:11:46 T:3035504640 DEBUG: CGUIMediaWindow::GetDirectory (xxx)
21:11:46 T:3035504640 DEBUG: ParentPath = [xxx]
21:11:46 T:3035504640 ERROR: GetDirectory - Error getting xxx

Without any other details.

Any ideas? Cheers

Nobody else encountered the same problem?

Does it work with a dedicated distribution (e.g. openelec or raspmbc)?

Running kodi on raspbian generally needs quite a lot of configuration and the dedicated distributions are recommended if you are having trouble getting it working.

I haven't tried actually because I need a specific wifi driver which I was only able to get working with raspbian. But I'm using rasp/kodi build from Michael Gorven (http://michael.gorven.za.net/raspberrypi/xbmc) which should be configured (and seems to be used by many).

Isn't there a way how to figure out why is it failing to read - maybe move verbose log?

Finally figured out where the problem was - figured out looking out through source code. Of course it was something silly in the end - permissions.

I was very surprised about lack of any debugging and very little logging through out the source code. Don't understand how you could test it Smile. No complains about the end product though, great job!

Thanks
