DRM channels?
#1
Hi guys,

I just discovered server.wmc for the first time and love it! My tuner is a HDHomerun Prime, Windows 8.1 WMC, and Kodi 14 using pvr.wmc on a fire tv.

When I run a channel scan on the HDHomerun, alot of the channels say DRM next to them. These channels display fine in WMC but do not work in Kodi. I have 'hide DRM channels' checked in server.wmc but they still show under 'Channels' and in the EPG in Kodi.

I ran a channel scan in WMC and these channels are checked off because wmc can tune them.

How can i get the DRM channels to not show up in Kodi?

Thanks for your help!

Hi, welcome. As I guess you know, only wmc can play drm channels, kodi&swmc can schedule recordings on drm channels but cannot view the recordings, so in that respect it might be good to leave these channels un-hidden. Also its worth it to make sure you can't view the drm channels just to make sure swmc has flagged them correctly as drm.

If the channels are still showing up in kodi after clicking 'hide drm channels', its probably because they are still stored in the kodi database. In kodi go to:
settings>live-tv and click 'reset pvr database' (something like that anyway). That should take care of it.

Hi krusty,

I tried your suggestion but the channels still show under channels/epg. How does server.wmc know that the channels are flagged as DRM? Does wmc tag them?

Thanks

So swmc is marking them with '-drm', and you have it set to not show drm channels, but they are showing up anyway. I am confused too. Time to post the serverwmc log. It would be best if before you save the log, restart swmc and after it starts, start kodi. Then when kodi is done loading, put the log file on pastebin.com and post a link to it here.

After re-reading the post and looking at the logs it looks like the HDHomeRun page is marking them as DRM but ServerWMC is not detecting DRM.

I believe this will be fixed with my new DRM detection method in the next ServerWMC release.

@Krusty - what is the plan for the next release? Could we let @tonyt76 try a rc build?

I would love to try this RC build and report back!

Yeah you are right, the log doesn't show that any of the channels were marked as drm by swmc, so I think your fix should take care of it. I will get a build together for him to try, and yes the plan is to put your change into the next release.

Hi everyone,
I want to chime in and say thanks, I stumbled across this thread because I had the same issue as the OP, the DRM flag from my HDHomerun Prime is not being recognized by ServerWMC. Can't wait to try out the new release!

Thanks for the test build Krustyreturns, I've been testing it for some time now and it's working great so far, both as a service and standalone app, DRM channels are not listed in the guide.
