I have also experienced this error. But I have noticed that it only occurs for large files >~1GB. Unfortunately, I can't provide a debug log before next week.

make sure user "family" is part of the debian-transmission group.

User family is in debian transmission group. It's not a permissions issue since I'm able to copy then delete the files.
