NVIDIA Shield (Android TV set-top box)
Right, so they never stated what @Topken claims. It was all in Topken's head.
Someone other than me have problems with the network?

I have internet (can play youtube and so on), but can`t browse the local network anymore. Neither X-Plore can`t connect
to the Win7 machine it always has.
So SPMC is out of work so to say.

I have tried to add static IP, don`t help. Don`t think that is the problem neither, because I have internet that comes from the same router.
And I can connect to the server from all other devices. That is not Android, my Android phone has the same problem. My Chromebook can
easily connect..
Now I don`t understand.

In X-Plore I get the error: 0x000009A

Solved, by doing this: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/For...networking
Petter :-)
Many thanks for all the effort YOU all do! THANKS! :-)

Hey guys I just have a few questions regarding the shield.

So there is a bundle with just 16gb of space, and a bundle with 500gb space.

Let's say I buy the 500gb one. How do I transfer my files to that hdd? After setup it will just appear as a shared drive on my laptop I assume?

Also how much watt/energy does the shield use? Can u let in on for 24h a day? that way the files on that 500gb hdd could be accesed on other devices running kodi too.

I know it's possible to hook up a usb3.0 external hdd and play files from that. Is is then also possible to acces that external hdd from the file manager on my laptop as a shared network drive?

is this how it works or am I missing something?

thanks
No, as of right now the Shield will not show up as a network share. However, that will change after the 3.2 update which will be released before the end of this month. http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid2354985

Currently if you want to copy files to the Shield you will need to something like a FTP client app and use ftp to copy the files. Or you can use Kodi's file manager to copy files.

Yes you can copy files to an external drive, even use Kodi's file manager to do that, but there is a limitation with external drives were you can only copy to the app folder (on the external drive) of the app you're using.
Explained here: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic...l-drives-/

I have a 500GB (Pro) model and 2 16GB models and frankly, with the exception of it just being neater, with adoptable storage there is really no advantage to having the Pro model over the 16GB model.

Hello everyone. I'm wondering if after a year with all the updates has there been an improvement on the Hi10P front?
Hi guys. Question

How can you play the BDMV movies automatically without having to browse the BDMV STREAM folder for the main movie? On some movies this is a problem because the main movie has been separated into multiple files in the STREAM folder.

Thanks
In case you miss it 3.2 update is available..

4K 50/59.94/60Hz modes will get you HDR on both Kodi (17) and SPMC. It will not work at any other resolution/refresh rate.
Nice! Will have to dig out my shield again and set it up Smile Everything seems alot easier now and with 4K/HDR/10bit/23.937 issues out of the way this might be a winner Smile

The worst part of this update is...They really try to force me to add Shield back to my "Device to buy" list. Tongue
Configuring the shield for 4:4:4 with the 3.2 update and setting Kodi (latest nightly) to sync the display to the refresh rate of the video results in it being thrown back to RGB once the refresh rate changes and then back to 4:4:4 upon exiting the video. Sad

Power cycling the Shield after configuring it for 4:4:4, as suggested on the nVidia forums, hasn't made a difference. I haven't tried any other Kodi builds yet.

It looks like the refresh rate switching API may have changed. It is actually switching to 24.000Hz and not 23.976Hz. If you try to manually set it 24.000Hz and change the colorspace to YCbCr 4:4:4, it completely breaks the refresh rate switching. It doesn't seem to be isolated to Kodi/SPCM. It is happening with Archos Video Player also.

Right now, the only solution is to set it to 23.976Hz mode in Shield's HDMI settings.
tl;dr Problem: HDD Unmounts, loses Kodi library

Hello, I was wondering if anybody has dealt with this issue and has had a solution. Obviously I'm using the Nvidia Shield Android TV and I have this external hard drive (Western Digital MyPassport https://www.amazon.com/Model-Passport-Po...mypassport). The HDD unmounts itself quiet often. For example after I watch a movie in the evening I'll go to sleep and when I wake up in the morning none of my movies can play. All movies from my Kodi library won't play because the HDD keeps unmounting or something. I can't really figure out what's going on.

I have to either a) reboot the Shield or b) fully eject the HDD in Nvidia's settings and then physically remove the HDD from the shield and plug it back in.

Has anybody else had issues with this? It's pretty annoying? Do I need to be using a powered external HDD?

Thanks!
I don't have your problem, but I think that the Passports may be buggy with the Shield. My issue is that mine will not power off when I power down the shield consistantly. Every second or third time I have to restart the shield and power down again in order to shut off the Passport.
