Is it possible to remotely schedule tv recordings?

What I would like to do is use an app on my iPhone or iPad to be able to schedule tv recordings wherever I can get wi fi or 3G signal. I have been round friends and families houses and seen adverts for movies and tv shows I would like to watch. Would be really good if I could open up an app and set a tv show to record on my tv server and home remotely via my iPhone.

I am not using either of these, so I am not sure if they allow to schedule tv recordings.

For tvheadend it works fine..

I am pretty sure that they those websites don't allow remote recording.

I'm using mediaportal tv server as the back end.

Still setting it up with kodi. Used to use mediaportal front end but liking kodi a lot!!
