Linux Really long tv channel change time
#1
Hello everybody,

need to help again hoping you can help me.

I'm using TVHeadend an a HTPC with 4 GB RAM, Intel i3-4150 with 3.5 Ghz and a DVB Cine S2 (DVB-S).
The HTPC is actually backend and frontend (kodi + pvr.tvh addon) for my TV setup.
Everything is working so far.
What I'm really worrying about is, that the when I switch the TV channel the change normaly takes up to 4-10 seconds.
That's really frusttrating!
Sometimes it's working within 1-2 seconds. I think then I'm then switching to a TV channel which is on the same responder!?
Before I switched to the HTPC, I used a Dreambox. With that, the switch of the TV channel was within 1-2 seconds. So, I don't think this problem is related in the hardware of the sat setup behind my HTPC.
Must be related in TVHeadend or the TV card.

Probably one of you guys had the same problem and could help me?

TVHeadend Version: 3.9.2514~g50016a1~trusty
pvr.tvh Version: 0.9.8

Thanks in advance.

How many tuners do you have?
I had a similar problem to this where it would intermittently take 10 seconds+ to change channel, instead of 1-2 seconds.
It turned out my quad tuner box had 2 bad cables going into the box with weak signal.

Try disabling all your tuners and testing each one individually.

If you only have one, then disregard this post obviously.

Dual tuner, with just one connected cable.
Tried both tuners separate. Sadly makes no difference (had disabled the other one additional.

Can youi post a debug log (wiki)? Also check the log in tvheadend when you're switching channels in case it reports anything. It shouldn't take anywhere near as long as you say it takes.

Hope you will find something in the log, which helps me turning off this issue:

First opened TV channel Prosieben HD, then switched to DMAX HD and finally to Sky Cinema+24 HD
Grep tells me 48 error in this log. Sounds pretty much

You can view the log and enable debug logging in the web interface.

Did this help?

Too much verbose to me while having no plan.
Change of the TV channel took 4 seconds.

Which version do you mean?
Actually had an update to version 3.9.2662~ge4cdd3c~trusty
Where can I find the changelog? The changelog which the package provides, was an empty link.

Each build has a build id: https://tvheadend.org/builds/tvheadend
For example https://tvheadend.org/builds/tvheadend/build/9753
translates to git revision e4cdd3ca0fd84161af2c2a31f2ce198a12545baa

You might get better answers to your problem on the tvheadend web site:
