unicode from a UPnP-Server
#1
I am using KODI with OpenELEC.

I have unicode (japanese, rusian, ...) files on my UPnP-Server (on a QNap NAS).
KODI doesn't show them to me. It doesn't show placeholder-strings or something like that. It ignores japanese and rusian files (the title tags of the mp3).

First I thougth this depends on the server but it doesn't.
Accessing the server over the browser interface shows me nice readable japanese characters.
And accessing the server with my hardware streaming client (philips np 2900) show the files wih "block"-characters. So they are not shown correctly but they are shown.

Why doesn't KODI can handle this?
I am suprised about it. Maybe this depends on configuration things?

Change the font to a unicode font in the skin: arial....?

I see. Arial works.

But isn't this a BUG that there is nothing displayed, when no unicode font is activated? There could be blocks or ?, ... to just show that there is something.

Nope not a bug, depends on the shipped fonts/strings in skin and isn't from KODI.
Depends on skinner if they use unicode ttf or other in the design or not
