OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 15.0) Part 2

Currently MVC in ISO file is not supported. You need to run makemkv on the ISO and make sure the stereo channel is enabled.
This is quite quick (a remux rather than a re-encode). This will produce an MVC mkv file that will play in 3D.

I remux to MKV file with makemkv but for some reasons it could only play 2D, I did choose the MVC-3D stream while creating MKV. What do you mean by stereo channel is enabled?

In makemkv gui, where you check which audio/subtitle tracks to include, you need to enable the video "Mpeg4-MVC-3D" track (which is disabled by default). That is the second eye channel.
After a lot of testing i found out why i couldnt get full hd 3d myself.
My mvc mkv's were in working order - tested with totalmedia theatre.

1) filename needs to have a flag = filename.3d.sbs usually does it.
2) For my EPSON LCD projector the option FULL HDMI 3D needs to be turned OFF. MVC MKV 3D to ON.
(figured this out by pure chance - couldnt find anything on the Internet about this)
I have no idea why, as it was working fine recently but today I found (with #413) I had some strange issues with my remote keys not working properly (userdata/lircmap.xml and userdata/keymaps/remote.xml seem to be fine) and my USB tuner was not seen anymore with lsubs showing no sign of it. I updated to #419 but both problems remained the same.

The debug log seems to show lines like

CLinuxInputDevice::KeyEvent: TranslateKey returned XBMCK_UNKNOWN from code(403)

or

CLinuxInputDevice::KeyEvent: TranslateKey returned XBMCK_UNKNOWN from code(226)

for the keys that don't work and

Keyboard: scancode: 0x9e, sym: 0x0008, unicode: 0x0000, modifier: 0x0
DEBUG: OnKey: backspace (0xf008) pressed, action is Back

for those that do.

Installed OE 5.0.8 and no change.Tried 5.0.5, which was the only other official build I have and still the same problems. I even tried swapping the tuner and remote receiver over to the opposite USB ports (which caused it to power-cycle) but then it wouldn't boot at all!

OK, after swapping them back,it booted and lsusb shows the tuner again and the remote keys are all functioning normally again and the TVh browser interface now shows both tuners on my dual tuner, whereas it's only ever shown one before! After updating back to #419 it still shows both tuners and the remote's still working, so I don't know what was going on at all. My brother reported that his EPG stopped showing anything after he rebooted as well (I'm not sure which build he's on, #413 I think) so hopefully I can sort that out relatively easily as well.

This is what I did:

And I also enable the 3D MVC in the acceleration part in XBMC. But somehow it's till not playing 3D Sad

You also need to mark the video file as 3D for Kodi. Either name it with ".3D.SBS." in filename, or use OSD/video settings to indicate it is 3D/SBS.

yay, it's working now. But I notice the pgs subtitle, they not showing correctly sometimes (font is too big and it's overflown to the screen), is it a known problem with pgs subtitle?

Even the DVD menu isn't working properly. (Even on clean install).

Might be worth trying again with next build which should include PR6988 which fixes a regression with DVD menus.

Thanks, I will test and let you know!

Very interesting project. Won't mind having these in your builds. http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=224794

Works so much better than standard UPnP
MONSTA Wrote:popcornmix,
Thank you for the explanation. Here is good sample for tests https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9_XmyO...sp=sharing

I've been working on this bug for a long time. Got as far as dumping out all the pixel data for all input frames and deinterlaced output frames on both Pi and Linux
and trying to match up what each was trying to do. Eventually got an "aha!" moment, and now have a fix for deinterlace "jaggies" with SD content.
It makes your sample file a lot cleaner.

I've pushed out a firmware fix. You can manually update or wait for next Milhouse build.
Has anyone had any luck getting the test builds to work with a share from Windows 8.1/10 at all? While my video content comes from a Samba share on a couple of Synology NAS boxes, my music is all on a Windows 10 machine and I've just never been able to get it working (I even supply my Windows login to the RPi and it just doesn't want to pay attention to it)
Haven't tried with Windows 8, but it works fine with Windows 7 default partition shares (c$, etc etc).
Milhouse. You planning to do builds for this some or other time or to include it in your builds. http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?pid=...pid1987436

Want to see if I must try and build myself.
