Win Video playback causes computer lockup
#1
Hi

I am fairly new to Kodi and I'm hoping someone can tell what I have done wrong with my Windows 8 setup that is causing my pc to lockup when trying to playback video files from my NAS.

The log file of the lockup can be found here

I also have a raspberry pi running openelec and that has no problem playing the files.

Any help or nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The log you provided isn't a Debug Log. Please enable debug logging in system settings, first.

possible its a memory leak and you ran out of memory during playback

how much ram do you have and how much is kodi using when it locks up?

Ok hopefully this is now the correct log of the problem

My PC has 4Gb of ram and the Kodi debug readings at the top left of the screen indicate that it is using about 3.1Gb when the PC locks up.

is it with all videos or specific one?

The problems appears when trying to play .mkv and .mp4 files, playback occurs normally with .avi files.

The Kodi screen indicates that the files are AVC1 video and AAC audio, is it possible that I am just missing the correct codec's?

all mkv and mp4 files or just some?

also are you streaming these or playing directly off a computer?

Yep all the mkv and mp4 files that I have tried have failed, the files are being streamed from a Synology NAS.
