I've been looking at several youtube videos showing how to install Kodi but I'm still having issues... I downloaded the latest version of Kodi but when I attempt to add the .apk file through adbfire, it can't be found. I need help!

All of this information can be found on links from
Fire TV (wiki). If ADBFire doesn't work then use another method that is mentioned on the page.

Why isn't there an .apk file in the current download of Kodi?

What are you talking about?
Look, no one is going to answer any of your questions if you don't actually read the directions. If ADBFire doesn't work for you then
don't use it. There are other ways to install Kodi onto the Fire TV. I gave you a link that gives you step-by-step instructions for those additional methods. Follow them. If you can't do that then you shouldn't be using Kodi, because actually setting Kodi itself up is a lot more complicated.

Look if your download didn't end up wit a ".txt" extension.
If so, change the extension to ".apk"
