www.pythonchallenge.com

maybe a way for python developers to have fun and learn some cool python at the same time?

what people have said about it:

"these sorts of things are in my opinion the best way to learn a language.", brberg at media cloisters

"it's the best web site of the year so far.", andy todd at halfcooked

"addictive way to learn the ins and outs of python.. a must for all programmers!", salimma at stumbleupon

"this challenge is fantastic. clever, addictive and really gets your mind working. i feel like i'm playing myst.", james tauber after finishing level 22.

"i've been using python since 1991, and while i've always enjoyed it, i have to confess this is the most python fun i've had this century! excellent work. thank you!", tim peters

"if you've got any python chops, i highly recommend giving it a shot. the puzzles are very well constructed, and the clues are clever. i felt continually challenged, but almost never at a total loss for things to try.", thiamin trek at 96db.com

on level 9 now after being stuck on 6 for a while.
bahhh some of the later levels require the use of python image library.

i cant figure out how to make the install work with the python interpretter that comes on cygwin. the installer on the main pil website looks at the windows registry to figure out which version you have and won't install otherwise (really stupid behavior).

does anyone have a link to a pil release that can be manually installed? or at least one that doesnt check your registry?

i was able to get by on the first image one by using tools in photoshop but this current one really needs that library, if i had it i think i know how to do it....

the pil seems to exist inside python from xbmc (q:\python\lib\Wink
you'll find there some py files such jpegimageplugin.py or mpegimageplugin.py

anyway, i made a zip of these files :
http://xbmc-scripts.gueux.be/documents/codes/pil.zip

i know that i downloaded the pil but can't find it anymore...
