It is possible. You can set it in library data provider plugin for the widgets that use the plugin or for extendedinfo widgets I'm not sure. Otherwise it will be a smartplaylist in skin folder extras/playlist, where you will need to make a smart playlist with the same filename and copy and paste it to that folder.
Otherwise I can think about that as a feature request for a future version (though I'm not sure how or if I can do this)

Well sounds great but had to reverse to 1.0 because widget's not working here. Either widget 1 nor widget 2. Always a rounded searchin' circle...Do not know why. Deleted guisettings too but no effect at all.
Plus it seems to be unable to select a playlist for widget (don't see it).
But keep going. It seems to be a great mod.

There are some small kinks with navigation. If you move the mouse pointer to the top left of the home screen the widget menu will open. I'll see what I can do to fix the issue.
I'll see what I can do about adding a default style if one isn't selected.
