Ideas for best NAS Music Server to work with KODI?
#1
Hi all,

I want to install a music server on my headless NAS device.
I would like this to collaborate all my Spotify / Local music into a single library.

I will then use different KODI / Android clients over the network to stream the music.

The NAS is running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
It does not have audio output etc, but just be used to stream to the clients.

So far I have found:
www.clementine-player.org - Looks promising - Don't think clients can stream the audio locally ...
www.mopidy.com - Looks promising - Don't think clients can stream the audio locally ...
Music Player Daemon
http://ampache.org/
http://www.subsonic.org

Has anyone done anything similar and has some recommendations?

If you can get your NAS/server to share that media via UPnP (DLNA) then follow this feature progress: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=224794

Otherwise Kodi is limited to streaming from SMB/Samba or NFS shares, or using add-ons, also read http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=229448
