Hey everyone,

I am new to this forum and have been using an Android Q7 quad-core box for about a year and have been quite satisfied with the box. At this point in time, I am looking to upgrade and purchase a new box. Can anyone speak from personal experience regarding any of the latest boxes or perhaps direct me to a comprehensive comparable list of the latest boxes. In general, my majority of usage revolves around xbmc but like most people, I want a box that can provide the newest hardware with the most power/stability/support etc... If someone could point me in the right direction for my next purchase I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, without being fond of android boxes, i think you should have a look at the Nvidia Shield right now.

But as with all android boxes there are still issues that you won't have to deal with if you choose a chromebox running Openelec.

although hardware like NVIDIA Shield and the HP 260 G1 are out, your first point of call should be this thread

specifically the first post. This will give you a decent overview of things to consider and that matter to you when you pick the hardware that is suited to you.

Remember what is suited for one is not neccesarily suited to the other. An example would be if you want/need HD audio, The Raspberry Pi 2 does some but not all audio. Or if you want to watch live TV of hd quality, then the chromebox would be more suited for the job. Or if you need android etc

After you read the first post and had a read of the most recent units out such as the HP 260 G1 (if your in the UK) and the Nvidia Shield, then Its good to come on here and share and ask your thoughts before purchasing. good luck
