next question: WHERE can I found crystallubuntu? googled many hours watching many tutorials....all links were bad.

Please help me, you can rech me here or under my mail adress but i want to fix these problems as soon as i can.

I think the hardware your after is very old, there are much better and cheaper options now

have a look at this thread (the first post)
http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=94268

you should consider what your needs are
do you watch live tv
do you need hd audio

If your coming from an apple tv1 I think you would be more than happy with just a RPi2

have a read of that thread and you should have a better idea, then come back and ask further questions Smile

this is a good read

since you already have the appletv it might be better just to buy a Crystall HD card? will that give you 1080p and everything you want? I don't have any experience with apple tv1 so maybe someone that does will come in

also I've seen this on ebay

Hiya,

As a long time ATV1 user here, this is the Crystal HD card you will need for 1080p, make sure you get the newer BCM70015 one and not the BCM70012 version.

https://www.broadcom.com/products/set-to...s/bcm70015

I've written a Mini Guide to install and upgrade Crystalbuntu from Gotham to Kodi Helix 14.2 or Isengard Alpha2:

Sam Nazarko the originator of Crystalbuntu will sometime this year be upgrading Crystalbuntu on the ATV1 to OSMC.

I have been running an ATV1 with the Crystal HD card (BCM70015) for a couple years now and its works very well. I have CrystalBuntu installed and can't wait for OSMC to be released for it.

I used an ATV1 in the guest room for years until recently. Great little box. There are some newer ones that are better, but if you alreday have it it's a very capable box once you add a CrystalHD

One Tip, the ATV1 only has 256MB of RAM. Nearly half that amount will be taken by Kodi itself.

You may have found out already that installing all manner of add-ons will cripple OpenElec / Gotham - Crystalbuntu / Kodi operation eventually, especially dodgy stuff I cannot even discuss here on the forum.

Just use it as a basic Kodi - TV / Movie - media player and you will be fine.

BTW Kodi is NOT installed with OpenElec, support finished at Gotham

Yes it may be better depending on what the latest OSX version is that you can install on it will be.
Read this thread to get some ideas.

I'd reccommend Kodibuntu, all the early Mac minis are powerful enough to decode 1080p in software. (Except the single core one)
But you need to compile "atvclient" to navigate Kodi with the Apple Remote.
