Setup TV- Raspberry - Samsung soundbar
#1
Hello,

Here is my setup:

Raspberry pi 2 with osmc connected to samsung tv JU6400 with hdmi

Ps4 connected to samsung tv with hdmi

TV is connected to Lg soundbar 3530 ( dolby digital and dts capable ) with an optical cable.

I have a problem when i activate the passthrough in kodi ( osmc). I get no sound and the audio format is always PCM. I thought that its because rhe TV is not capable to take the audio signal from hdmi and send it to the optical cable.

On the other hand when i force the ps4 to a bitstream dolby or bitstream dts...it works... And the sound bar gets a dolby digital or dts signal...

Am i missing something ?

Tv: samsung ue50ju6450
Soundbar: lg 3530a

Thank y[/b]ou

I use the same method but with a receiver instead of a soundbar.
Disabling omxplayer worked for me.
DD and DTS working.

You guys are awesome ! but why it doesnt work with OMXPLAYER ? doe the MMAL reads all format ?
I mean when Passthrough is activated only audio should go the TV and get decoded by the TV but i get no sound and No picture !!

ANyway works with MMAL...

Thank You !

Post a debug log (wiki) if you'd really like to know.

Note: omxplayer doesn't support transcode to AC3.
Don't enable dual audio (Analogue + HDMI) together with passthrough - it won't work.

Hello,

So another issue....i exchanged the LG soundbar with a samsung HW J450 soundbar which has an 1x HDMI input AND 1xoutput and 1x Optical.

Setup 1:

1) Raspberry ------>HDMI IN-----> SOUNDBAR------>HDMI OUT------->TV
2) 2.1 CHannels
3) OMXPLAYER disabled
4) PAssthrough enabled

I get no sound...the bar is supposed to decode DD and DTS Huh

Setup 2:

1) Raspberry------> HDMI IN-------> TV------>optical------->SOUNDBAR
2)2.1 channels
3)OMXPLAYER Disabled
4) Passthrough enabled
5) passthrough on tv enabled ( optival output = DOlby Digital)

If works.....Confused

I prefer to use my the first setup.... because i use the optical input for my ps4

thank you

Ok i tried to install Kodi on my laptop and then i plugged the laptop to the soundbar and activated passthrough..it worked !! so i think it's a raspberry problem or OSMC problem....
