I already wrote in Milhouse thread, that i have problems with dvd in background.
Switched now to this version ( NOT using now the test firmware for the wrong dvds ) and did some more testing and found something.

If I use bob(half) advanced(half) or no deinterlace there is no problem.
With full deinterlace bob or full advanced the video in background runs slower than audio.
At a certain point the mismatch is too big and video stops. audio plays 5 sec .. stop ... 5sec... stop ( like with the other problem dvds )
If you would let it run so a few minutes and stop dvd, then even the gui freezes. shh still works.
If you stop the player immediately after video stops, there is no gui freeze.

if you go into fullscreen before the video stops, video runs shortly extremly fast, till it reaches again audio sync.
but going back to menu and background video it again runs slower than audio.

Debug Log with bob:

Edit: i tried your assert logging firmware from yesterday on the gui freeze, but there was no error in output of "vcdbg log msg".

After jumping 30secs nearly everytime the video stops. Audio continues normal till the end.

Debug log: ( first jump worked, second one video stopped and audio continued )

What is make/model of receiver (or TV)?
What do you see on display? Does it indicate AC3? Is it stable, or does it flicker?

What happens with DTS?

Panasonic SC-BTT400EBK

DTS I get nothing.

I used to run an Ubuntu box, and it worked fine on that.

I've noticed a similar problem with Live TV (using IPTVSimple).

I haven't tested with bob (half) or advanced (half) yet, but using advanced (full) causes the video to lag the audio when using the EPG. Returning to the same channel causes video to fast-forward in an attempt to re-sync with the audio, but it never gets there. Changing the channel down, then back up re-syncs the video to the audio. Staying in the EPG for an extended period of time causes the audio to intermittently cut-out, as though the video feed is so out of sync that Kodi is restarting the feed to re-sync everything.

That was a pain to explain... I don't think a log file or video sample will help, but I can provide them if needed.

You need 10 (or 15?) posts to be able to thank other members.

It includes a newer kernel so it's possible. Give it a try and report your results.

I think I have a fix for this. Should be in tonight's Milhouse build.
If testing is positive I'll add it to Isengard tree.
