Switched Surround Channels Dolby TrueHD 7.1 via HDMI
#1
Hi,

I have a problem with 7.1 channels via HDMI to my AVR ONKYO TX-NR818

My setup:
MacBook Pro 13 mid 2014
HDMI output
Kodi 15.1
- HDMI output
- 7.1 channels

ONKYO TX-NR818
- 7.1 configuration
- speakers setup correctly
- FL, C, FR
- SL, SR (Surround channels)
- SBL, SBR (also used Rear or Surround Back Channels)

SOURCE
Dolby TrueHD Channel Check (Lossless)
http://s1.demo-world.eu/hd_trailers.php?...s-DWEU.mkv

SYMPTOMS:
- Kodi shows 7.1 TrueHD
- Every speaker plays sound
- but surround channels are switched
- Output is:

Left -> Left OK
Center -> Center (OK)
Right -> Right (OK)
Surround Left -> Rear (Back) Left (NOT OK)
Surround Right -> Rear (Back) Right (NOT OK)
Rear (Back) Left -> Surround Left (NOT OK)
Rear (Back) Right -> Surround Right (NOT OK)

IS there any way how to fix it?

Thanks for help.

Mac's running OSX cannot passthrough 7.1 HD Audio, thats your problem right there.
And its been that way forever and can only be fixed by Apple.

Download a Kodi Jarvis development build to decode 7.1 HD Audio into 8 channel PCM and output that via HDMI to your AVR.

You must have missed the Kodi decode DTS-MA thread:

michalcik,

we might increase our chances of Apple adressing this by giving them feedback (I already did)

@wrxtasy - he uses Dolby TrueHD which we were able to decode before - it has nothing to do with dts - hd decoding... (and also it has nothing todo with passthrough)

@michalcik post the debug log (wiki) - also check your speaker layout in audio-midi-setup in osx (it might be t hat the speakers are switchted there - you can fix this in audio-midi-setup then and kodi will pick up the speaker layout on the next start of kodi).

@wrxtasy - thanks for your replay. But as @Memphiz said my post was not about DTS -HD MA 7.1 I am celar on that. My problem was TrueHD and switched channels.

@Memphiz - also thanks for your replay. Audio-Midi-Setup on OSX is set correctly. So what I did was I changed Audio output in Kodi from 7.1 to 7.0 and then channels work also correctly. But it is 7.0 not 7.1

@wrxtasy multichannel pcm (8 unencoded pcm channels)

@michalcik - pleae post a debug log (wiki) when 7.1 speakerlayout is set

Did you verify that the speakers in osx-midi-setup are really assigned correctly (by clicking each speaker and verify that the noise comes from the shown speaker)?
