I would like to be able to use an FTP client inside Kodi itself, and one that will allow me to select files from a private FTP server located elsewhere, and specify where I want to download them to on my media center

Does such an addon exist. I see many posts about servers but none about clients.

I'm not sure if there is an addon or service for an FTP client already written, but it wouldn't be that difficult in python. If you are able to program a bit in python, have a look here: https://docs.python.org/2/library/ftplib.html
