Cool things Raspberry Pi can do
#1
Hi guys!

Hope you're all doing awesome Smile

Just a quick post about Raspberry Pi.

What is the coolest way you have seen a Raspberry Pi used? Model doesnt matter. Just interested in seeing what cool stuff is being made out there with this awesome little super computer!

Thanks Smile

Moved to off-topic, as it's only tangentially (and obviously) linked to Kodi.

I have a curious question about the Pi as well but no idea where to start.

I'm working on a movie ticket booth for a friend's home theater and we've had the idea to use a TV in portrait mode behind the glass which would feature video clips of a manned ticket booth interior. Sort of like the Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios (if you've been there) where in the cue there's a section with various "booths" manned by Springfield residents that pop up saying and doing funny things. The extra detail would be have a red curtain between the glass and screen that would open and close automatically at the end of and before each different video clip. All automated from a simple on switch. Thought the Pi (any model) might be an awesome way to handle all this but again, no clue where to start. I can build the booth, mount the TV and film the "action". So if any Pi guru's know where to find any info on something like this please, I'm all ears!

Not related to kodi, there are plenty of pi forums on the internet.

This is the "Off-Topic" forum, is it not?

Yeah but there are still better places to ask I would imagine.

Of course, but perhaps someone who frequents this board and knows something about what is being asked can help with suggestions as to where to find that info or possibly even have a full on solution.

Not everyone who uses this forum is KODI KODI KODI 24/7/365.

Christmas has nothing to do with Kodi yet I didn't see anyone complain about the thread someone started about that non-Kodi related topic in the Off-Topic forum....

This might be the best place to start, the suggested idea is going to require some relatively simple programming, and some moderately involved hardware hacking.

There are forums there which all the clever pi people seem to frequent.

Not unwelcome here, but probably a better response there Wink

The above may give you a start on using the Pi for motion sensing. Then as Nick says the Pi forums are great places to get help and support for such hardware hacks.
