I play around with my kodi instant a lot, and more often then not have to reinstall my instant.

There are a number of customization in Aeon Nox that I've setup over the years, rather than re-apply them all i decided to backup my:
guisettings.xml
and
addon_data\script.skinshortcuts\*

on my latest fresh install i install Nox and then kill the kodi process and copy over everything i backed up. It worked, all my configurations and submenus are back to how i like them. However they seem to be locked now?

From that point forward any changes i make to Nox will get reverted after a reboot?

I checked file permissions and they seen fine, any idea what would cause that?

In Jarvis Skin settings are separate in userdata---if there are issues with previous libraries or Corrupt GUI then you will have to do a fresh install.
In any case further information regarding which OS, which kodi release & which Aeon Nox are you using & if possible look at or upload a log.
