HDMI Output Resolution
#1
I have my RPI connected to a big screen HDTV. When I set GUI resolution to desktop, my HDTV indicates that my RPI is a 720P source.
When I set GUI resolution to 1920 x 1080, my HDTV indicates that my RPI is a 1080P device. I thought GUI resolution was separate from HDMI output resolution. I have my RPI using the nextPVR addon and I want my TV to operate at the appropriate resolution the TV station is broadcasting in. i.e. a 1080i station should display as a 1080i on my HDTV and a 720P TV station should display as a 720P station just like my TV normally would.

What do I have to do to make this happen? Anyone have any suggestions?

Basically no general purpose media player supports native resolution.
It can be done for a dvd player or a set box box which supports a very limited set of file formats/resolutions,
but there are too many complications for a general purpose media player to support.

I should add that I only have a problem with the single core rzpi model B. When I put the GUI in high def mode (1080p), audio goes out of sync over time. Desktop (720p) does not exhibit the audio sync problem.

The model B+ quad core works fine in high def mode. However, wifi does not work as well as the single core Pi.

The furthest USB socket from the processor (top right when looking at USB sockets) is probably the best choice for wifi adapter.
Make sure Pi is oriented so path of wifi adapter to router is as clear as possible (e.g. not having to pass through Pi board itself, or any other equipment).
