Kodi16, Ubuntu 14 LTS. I use Kodi from distri BM2LTS
I use this MCE remote (RC6 I guess) which also can be found on Kodi wiki:

If I use the keymap editor no key strokes come through from PLAY PAUSE STOP. Other work well. Where should I start my search (considering I am a Linus beginner ;-)

PROBLEM SOLVED, in my case at least.

It was indeed, as pointed out by Memphiz and denz13, a conflict with ubuntu keyboard shortcuts.

It was just a matter of going to System Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Sound and Media and disabling all shortcuts. After that, all media keys on the Logitech dinovo mini started to work again in Kodi.

And there doesnt seem to be a way around except loosing those keys as shortcut for rythmbox,... !

Running kodi from a desktop is nonsense per se ... it's not a desktop player. Log out from the current session and start the kodi session directly - then you don't need to cope with such things.

Window Manager always has priority, so if you want to keep it running from the desktop, there is no way around it.
