Virus in visualization.milkdrop2.dll?
#1
Hey all,

I just installed the latest nightly (KodiSetup-20160406-2d8f68c-master.exe) on my Windows 10 laptop (64bit) and Betdefender Total Security 2016 claimed to have found a virus.
I attached a screenshot, it concerns the virus "Gen:Variant.Razy.35642" in the file "kodi\addons\visualization.milkdrop2.dll".
Can I assume this is a false positive?

Kind regards,
Job

P.S.
I also just noticed the nightly couldn't boot, because I didn't have python27.dll. Manually installing Python fixed it.

VirusTotal is your friend - https://virustotal.com/

Hand that website a URL or upload a file and it will then check it against dozens of different virus checkers for you.

Almost certainly this is a False Positive. Not many people will have downloaded the nightly, so not many AV companies will have checked the file properly yet. No doubt by now BitDefender is giving that same file a clean scan.

8 positives at the moment

If you look at the list of 57 different virus scanners it is only 8 that are flagging it. The respectable companies have all given it a clear test. So I would take that as trustable.

Yup, I don't think it's a problem. I just thought I'd give some feedback on the scan Wink

Feedback always good... it also shows who not to trust for Anti-Virus.
