RTSP Stream Playback
#1
Hi All,

I am unable to get Kodi to play a RTSP stream. (Windows and Android)

I purchased a HDMI H264 encoder box and can get the RTSP stream to work via VLC Media Player on my pc and iphone.

Kodi just does not seem to recognise the stream when adding it.

I have tried some suggestions for playlists and .STRM files with no luck.

I have tried adding the stream as a source and as a file in the following format

rtsp://192.168.1.168/hdmi

I get the error "Could not retrieve directory information. This could be due to the network not being connected. Would you like to add it anyway?"

The log has the following error when trying to play back from a .STRM file:

"15:51:40 T:7680 ERROR: Playlist Player: skipping unplayable item: 0, path [rtsp://192.168.1.168:554/hdmi]"

A few posts suggests Kodi supports RTSP streams natively?

Any help would be appreciated.

Internet video and audio streams (wiki)

This used to work for BBC world news, the code was in a file named BBC_World.strm and stuck in a path Kodi could see in file mode.

Code:
rtmp://media2.lsops.net/live/ playpath=bbcworld1_en_high.sdp swfUrl="http://www.livestation.com/flash/player/5.4/player.swf" pageUrl="http://www.livestation.com/channels/10-bbc-world-news-english" swfVfy=true live=true
I'm sure the link no long works, but at least you can see what did work at one time, and from what I've heard still works on other links. I'm not familiar with an 'HDMI H264 encoder box', I would have though a decoder box might be more useful. If you have something working with VLC, then it's highly likely that Kodi can be coaxed to do the same.
