How feasible is this? Rather than a progress bar graphic, a label which simply displays the same data as a percentage.

In places where space is at a premium, yes.

No % sign, so add that using the $INFO[] stuff.
Also, those that wish to may use the <info> tag in the progress bar as well, instead of relying on the code to do it (which it still does ofcourse!).
