[Tricky]

Skin.setstring (or bool for that matter) won't seem to save between sessions. It will keep its value as long as kodi is open but as soon as I close it, values are gone. Anybody have an idea what I'm doing wrong or how I can troubleshoot this?

You're on v16 probably. You can force save it by doing a skin reload. Has been be fixed in v17.

Maybe slightly off topic but what's the difference between using the skin.string amd window.property?
And also can I use info labels in string names? (Container.path + "_mysetting" for the key let's say)

skin strings are saved to file and will stick across reboots.
window properties will be saved to memory and are lost when you restart kodi.
