Linux [ubuntu 16.04] Choppy/Jerky playback since I've upgraded to Xenial
#1
Hi,
Last year, I followed this guide http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=174854 to setup a A6-6400K based kodi system. I could play smoothly any videos
I upgraded it to 15.04, struggled with systemd, but everything have been working fine for a year

Last week, I decided to upgrade to ubuntu 15.10 then to 16.04 (only changed team_xbmc ppa and some xinit permissions) and now I experience obvious choppy/jerky playback.
I could get better results by unchecking "Video->Playback->Sync playback to display"
And again better results by simply disabling VDPAU acceleration. Thought playback is still choppy from time to time.

Obvisously there is something wrong with video hardware acceleration but I've been unable to identify the issue. All seems good apart from this line in kodi.log which didnt lead me to anything :
Code:
WARNING: CVideoSurfaces::ClearReference - surface invalid

Any idea on what could be wrong?

Here is my system
Quote: ubuntu 16.1 amd64 up to date as 2016/08/11
APU : A6-6400K
kernel 4.4.0-34-generic

Here are my current settings :
Quote: - Video->Playback->Sync playback to display checked
- Video->Acceleration->VDPAU checked
- Video->Acceleration->Prefer VDPAU mixer checked
- Video->Acceleration->VDPAU MPEG4 and VC1 checked
- Video->Acceleration->VAAPI unchecked
- Deinterlacing : Auto
- Deinterlace Method : Bob
- Scaling : Bilinear

Here are the log after reboot and choppy playback :

What is the point of restarting the exact same thread than the one that has been binned for piracy add-on usage?
Moanbag is in da place!

I've installed a new version of kodi from "http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/ppa/ubuntu". Ive removed the forbidden add-on as I didn't know they were banned from this forum and actually have no use for it. So I was expecting to get some help since I am no longer violating any rules as far as I know.

"Disabled debug logging due to GUI setting. Level 0."

You need to supply the correct log file type.
