At least you didn't buy into a specific loaded TV box, you might be sad. This is the home of the extraordinary HDTV software called Kodi, and as such we have some Official:Forum rules/Banned add-ons (wiki) which keeps this open source software from being depreciated. The only software you should be installing is the official downloads linked at the top left of the forum. There's NO wizards, custom, loaded crap. Just the genuine, real deal for various operating systems.

Mistakes:

Attempt 1 "installed thebeast"
Attempt 2 "Ares Wizard + build"
Attempt 3 "Ares wizard + Pulse Build"

The fix is in my signature, and a fresh install from this web site.

You want to side step commercial services with illicit add-ons, We can't help you in that regard, but we can point in a better direction, http://addons.kodi.tv/category/video/ which are all supported by this forum and bring untold amounts of fun and entertainment, and you'll find Kodi is the best way to show off any media that you might own.
