Ubuntu Kodi Crashes due to sound/volume
#1
I am running Kodi 16.1 Git on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

When I switch between tabs (Alt + Tab) going back and fourth between Kodi and the other apps I am running (Ie firefox), no problem.

However, if I open my sound, or change volume and switch back to Kodi, my Kodi session freezes.

What I end up doing is running system monitor and kill kodi.bin, kodi, and despite killing it, Kodi still runs in the background and I have to wait awhile for it to close before I can rerun Kodi. (Actually what I do at this point is open up terminal and running Kodi from command).

Any ideas on how to resolve my Kodi freezing problem?

Without a Debug Log nobody can help, but from what you describe, you bypass pulseaudio for kodi ... see the wiki why this is not supported.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
