Linux Updating removes Kodi (newbie)
#1
Hi guys!

Sorry for the newbie question in advance! But I've looked in many places yet I still can't seem to find an answer!
I am an IT consultant that's totally Microsoft-minded, so I'm absolutely lost in Linux-land, I need your help Smile

I have an Xtreamer Ultra 2 deluxe, that came with good old xmbc. I installed kodibuntu on it and it works like a charm. However, I find myself at kodi 14. After updating it as described here ( http://kodi.wiki/view/kodibuntu#Updating ) I don't get any newer versions of Kodi. However if I follow the Base OS upgrade path here ( http://kodi.wiki/view/kodibuntu#How_do_I...tu_base_OS ) I do seem to get some newer Linux platform, but I'm all out of Kodi.

Noob question 1: Does the Base OS upgrade not reinstall Kodi?

Noob question 2: If I have an upgraded base OS, how do I install the latest (stable) version of Kodi?

Noob question 3: If I have an upgraded base OS, how do I install the latest (beta) version of Kodi?

Many thanks in advance!

Just out of curiosity: if you're Microsoft minded...why not use a Windows machine?

I have two Windows tablets still running XBMC Gotham (because it supports Broadcom Crystal HD) and about 8 other devices (Meegopad, desktops, tablets) running Kodi 17 or other clients connecting to Kodi. My Windows 10 Mobile phones unfortunately still use a client to connect to DVBLogic directly rather than use Kodi

Hi Black_Eagle,

Thanks for your reply. Does the 'development build' refer to a beta build?

@Plantje; I really like a challenge and the OS footprint of linux is way smaller than the Windows one. Why waste valuable resources huh Smile

True! That would definitely be a good reason to go for Linux.
