v18 LibreELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 18.0)
(2018-11-28, 12:44)1bertox Wrote: hello everyone.

I'm having problems with warming up after the latest updates.

when I start LibreElec and leave it in standby, after a few minutes the temperature icon appears. I go into configurations and the processor temperature goes from 80ºc / 176ºF, and the processor usage bar marks as if it were being used at 100%. even though it is not performing anything.

any correction for this?

is it possible to check if any addon is running in the background?

I have RPI3 B+ with PoE HAT and It runs on 50-53C no more, maybe you are playing HD Videos without HW license...

Try to SSH into and then check ps -T or top -H and you will get the running processes stats

As @jakermx suggests, run top to see which process is using the most CPU.

Also post a debug log (wiki), to see if an add-on has gone beserk.

I can't find a way to attach a file in this forum

So I put the file changed "makefile.libretro_common" in this paste.bin => https://pastebin.com/WkEQYqsn.  This came file came from this package "libretro-fbalpha-79704a667cd0aa5865feffd0f55b6fc4acc13dec".

Thanks,
Wwark

Have a look at LibreELEC PR #3133 - this will conditionally build with NEON support when required.

Thank you @Milhouse

I will try tomorrow to build the package FBA with these changes.

Just FYI When using the Weekly Builds that have iptables repalced, Tethering over WiFi on RPI 3 B+ is no working neither. but the other ones you are publishing it works.

A complete log would have the information to be sure, but I suspect it's too low a gpu_mem setting.
I'd suggest gpu_mem=320 if you are playing 10-bit 1080p HEVC files.
Hi @Milhouse ,

FBalpha compile without issue for RPI 3B+.
The test is OK.
I will put a comment in the github.

Are AV1 videos supposed to be playable? I tried a couple of samples and they just crash Kodi.

Not at the moment, and maybe never. Currently AV1 is crashing Kodi on RPi3+: http://ix.io/1uXM

You can however play AV1 successfully on at least an i5 NUC with latest LibreELEC - sample video files here.

For example, to play the first 1280x720 sample:
text:
texturecache.py playw "https://www.elecard.com/storage/video/Stream3_AV1_720p_3.9mbps.webm"

Edit: My i5 Skylake NUC is unable to play the 1920x1080 AV1 video sample without stuttering and the system fan kicking in, as the CPU load is high. But 1280x720 isn't an issue. (Very) early days though. More optimisations and bug fixes to come, I'm sure.

Hi, really amazing all the constant improvements!
Unfortunately I am experiencing some buffering/stuttering issues on the most recent (and also on previous builds) with MVC files (3D, but also when watching those in 2D). I am using a Raspberry pi 3b+.
When leaving standard cache settings, the small buffer circle fills up every few seconds very quickly, when changing the advancedsettings.xml, the best I can get is 1-2min without buffering, but then the buffering takes much longer and the message "Source read to slow.." pops up.
Those files are quite large (30gb), but playing them on a shield right next to my raspberry pi, which is also hardwired (same way as the raspberry) with 1gbit LAN to my router, they easily are played (even bigger 4K files with 50gb / about 10Mbyte/s are played on my shield TV).
The reason I am confused is, that I expected it is not working, only because the raspberry cannot handle those large files. Due to the "Source read to slow.." message though, it indicates more that my network / host PC is actually too slow in reading the files, which I believe is really not the case..
So is there hope, that this is just a bug or somet wrong settings on my side? What is the maximum file size you can playback?

When checking the stats on Kodi during playback, the memory is constantly around 70% (even when buffering)...
thanks a lot!
@kakkabolle post a complete debug log (wiki), which includes a period of buffering.
