Solved No Audio Passthrough for DTS/AC3 in Krypton (ubuntu 16.04)
#1
Hi there,

After a long time of hanging around on 12.04 and XBMC 13, never change a working system right Big Grin,I've finally took the plunge and updated to 16.04 with the intention of running Krypton. Went according to fritsch's tutorial here: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=231955 With some slight modifications for my Nvidia ION system. Long story short here's my problem:

I can't get passthrough audio working on the Krypton builds, at first I've installed from the unstable PPA (https://launchpad.net/~team-xbmc) then I've tried the nightlies, both do not get me to the desired result.

I've tried with AC3 and DTS but my receiver always outputs Multi Channel LPCM, in the logs it also says no passthrough. I know the receiver is capable so I went back to Kodi 16 on the stable PPA and voila, passthrough is working again.

Debug Log on Krypton no passthrough: http://paste.ubuntu.com/23568030/
Debug Log on Jarvis working passthrough: http://paste.ubuntu.com/23568220/

System:
Intel U2300
ION Gen1
Ubuntu 16.04.1
Kernel 4.4.0-51-generic

Kodi audio configuration: https://1drv.ms/i/s!At6cEyJzE4-RjE31LztEnlk60BSF

Anything else I can provide from my side?

Disable Sync Playback to Display. While doing that please read its description and also the discription of Allow Passthrough.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Well, that makes me feel stupid indeed, I just went back to my usual trusted configuration and since it worked with Jarvis too I expected something else was wrong. Sorry and thanks for the quick reply.

Nope - that is a change in behaviour and millions of users will ask this question in upcoming v17 :-)
