HDMI Audio Loss Windows 10
#1
Hi,

I'm using Kodi krypton latest nightly on Win10 64 on a Gigabyte BRIX BKi5A.

I have a problem with HDMI audio. When my Denon AVR is turned off, audio device is not detected anymore and i have to reboot windows to make it work again.

Strange thing is that it doesn't happen when kodi is not launched, only when kodi is running.

I tried to update Intel HD Audio drivers to latest. Didn't work. I tried the trick with the EDID override. Didn't work.

This is driving me mad, any idea of how to fix this ?

Thanx !!

Windows audio (wiki) Looks like Kodi audio is in exclusive Waspi mode, you might try Directsound. Depending on the gfx driver, you should be able to get into (windows control) playback devices and set your desktop audio default without having to reboot. It does look like a handshaking issue, when turning off a device. My CEC AVR usually returns Waspi to Directsound on the PC if I shut the AVR or TV down, so in your case I'm looking at the AVR as suspect along ith the PC not flipping back to Directsound default. In theory, the pin #19 trick should work, as it disallows the handshake to drop, so the other side (in your case the AVR) doesn't know it's been disconnected.

FTW: as there can sometimes be compatibility problems with WASAPI in certain circumstances the Directsound option may have to be chosen
