Is profile switching fixed in 060?
It's not clear from the build highlights.
Thanks.

Not yet. This looks to be a different issue from the one originally fixed.

Can you post in this thread when it is [believed to be] fixed?
I see no point in upgrading to any new build until it's fixed - my setup depends on profiles.
Thanks.

I can't find the threads where profile-switching in recent builds has been discussed [post #96].
What I have seen on recent builds:
- I have 3 profiles with different media sources, databases etc.
- upgrade to any recent OSMC build
- Load OSMC - log in to any profile. All OK.
- log out, login to another profile
- media, database etc. all fine - skin settings are those of first logged in profile.
What seems to be happening is that on logout, skin settings are saved in userdata/addon_data/<skin>/settings.xml

I've done a few tests now. Loaded a fresh OSMC 17.1 and upgraded to the latest 17.8-065. Running Estuary
Created a new profile and set background artwort, categories, weather, media
Logged out and logged in with master profile. Set different background artwort, categories, weather, media

Logged out and back in with previous profile - everthing working as expected
Logged out and back in with master profile - everything working as expected.

OK, will try 065 and post back.

Well, I don't understand what's happening here...
The symptoms are still as I described above, *except* that userdata/addon_data/<skin>/settings.xml
no longer exists, because I disabled the skin in the Master profile and deleted the userdata/addon_data/<skin> directory.
I use the Xonfluence skin for all except the Master profile, which I only use as a sort of 'admin' profile, i.e. it has no media.
I will investigate further, but this doesn't happen on build 051.
Also, it doesn't happen on the Milhouse LE builds, so it's something that has changed in OSMC since build 051.
I'll try some other skins.

Bear in mind most of the skins are broken for Leia. I tried installing Xonfluence and had to change the version in addon.xml to the latestxbmc.gui version. Then had all sorts of issues with the skin.

I've now got OSMC skin running under my profile (Also needed to change version) and Estuary running under master profile and everything is working.

First try setting your skin back to Estuary and see if you still have the same issues.

Also exactly what directory did you delete? userdata/addon_data/skin.xonfluence
Reply
Yes, I've had to make the same tweak to Xonfluence [which I use on LE as well as OSMC].
Yes, I deleted userdata/addon_data/skin.xonfluence and it hasn't reappeared.
I'll set up a couple of dummy users with Estuary and do some experiments after backing up userdata.

It seems to be related to mapping special://profile in some specific cases - my profiles have separate
sources, databases, playlists etc. Most of this is fine, but there are errors in the log indicating
that profileA is attempting to use playlists from profileB on startup.

This looks very similar to some of the issues I originally noted about a year ago.
