I had the same problem till a few minutes ago. Thanks to Peppe I found the addon27.db-file, I deleted it and now I can enter Kodi.
So Dman1973, find that file, delete it and it is solved

Post a Debug log (wiki).

Note that if Kodi won't launch then you can enabled debug logging by creating an advancedsettings.xml to enable debug logging, see http://kodi.wiki/view/advancedsettings.xml#loglevel

I am having the same issue. I updated to Krypton last night and Kodi did not launch. I uninstalled, reset my computer and then re-installed. It still does not launch. I deleted the addon27 but still nothing. I have read the topics about debug log but everything I click on or open does not have any information in it. When I load %APPDATA%\Kodi\kodi.log it states that it cannot find this page. I am not computer illiterate but this is stumping me.

the page i suggested in my post doesn't exist anymore check the one suggested from jjd-uk
have you looked in your task manager if kodi is on http://puu.sh/va5Mn/faabad406e.png in the end a Debug Log is what you need to understand your issue.

To perhaps make it a bit clear for the inexperience putting this in a

Code:
<advancedsettings>
<loglevel hide="false">1</loglevel>
</advancedsettings>

in a advancesettings.xml will allow Kodi to generate a debug log, so even though nothing may appear to happen there a chance this will capture what's preventing Kodi from starting up.

Note - the advancedsettings.xml may have if to created in which case refer to wiki pages http://kodi.wiki/view/advancedsettings.xml and http://kodi.wiki/view/Userdata
