Short and sweet: Could anyone add a pr for this. It's just common sense, and Kodi as a premier application should not induce eyestrain by default. (Also note that in cinemas it's alway gray. I'd ideally like it to be a little more subdued than "light gray", but "gray" might be just a tad too dim.) Also when the time comes when Kodi supports HDR natively, you do not want to use a "white" subtitle (that level would correspond to 10000 nits all things equal!)

change the settings to expert level.

I don't think it should be an expert level setting and instead be the default setting.
