v19 LibreELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 19.0)
(2019-06-22, 22:59)Milhouse Wrote: New LibreELEC.tv Matrix build #0622: RPi / RPi2(Supercedes previous build)

@Milhouse Currently unable to see/select and install #0622 build via the LibreELEC Settings -> Updates -> Avilable Versions option. (I perfomed a reboot of rpi3b+ before trying for second/third time to view and install #0622)

Ah, thanks for the heads up.

We've changed the OS version of master from 9.1 to 9.80 in preparation for a new official LibreELEC 9.2 beta release - and because it's beta, it means using a not-quite 9.2 versioning scheme, which will conflict with the old 9.1 master version with respect to addons, which are not compatible, hence the master bump.

The consequence of this OS version change is that you need to select the Milhouse-9.80 Update Channel to start picking up the new 9.80 builds.

Thanks.. and just quick confirmation that with switch to Milhouse-9.80 update channel can see, select and instal Build #0622 Wink

run these builds on the new RPi v4?

No, you'll need a new RPi4 build for that - yay, more work for me... Smile

To expand on the above post, I'll most likely be including RPi4 test builds in this thread (3 builds per day, RP/RPi2/RPi4) but it may not be soon as the RPi4 code base is not yet "Kodi 19 ready" and that is still a work in progress. What has been released today as LibreELEC 9.2 for RPi4 is based on Kodi 18.3.

The RPi4 support will be merging soon to LibreELEC master so you may see RPi4 references in future changelogs but until the RPi4 has Kodi 19 support it will not be possible to publish RPi4 test builds in this thread.

New firmware is required to support the RPi4, and changes to LibreELEC source code to support RPi4 may have unintended side effects on RPi/RPi2 builds, so it's important to get this RPi4 code into LibreELEC master even though there may not be RPi4 builds in the immediate future.

Note that it is possible to boot LibreELEC RPi4 builds on RPi3 (Cortex-A53-based RPi) devices, however this is not (currently?) supported and issues (including crashes) are to be expected. LibreELEC RPi2 builds on RPi4 hardware will not work.

Do you know, if the RPi V4 supports framepacked 3D?

The hardware does, but software doesn't support it yet.

So we have the hope now to get the only all-in-one mediacenter player :-)
I hope framepackaed (MVC) 3D will be supported as in other RPis and not forgotten about - there's still a lot of people, like myself, playing 3D content. The RPi is one of the few Kodi players that supports it natively. Good to see it's still there in the hardware - I'm guessing the h264 block is the same as in the earlier Videocore.

Is it possible to directly upgrade the firmware of the pi 3b to the raspberry pi 4 once it’s available ? Thanks

Yes, same h264 hardware (runs at higher clock frequency, but still 1080p).
I don't know if the devs can answer this yet, but which Raspberry Pi 4 would recommend for future LibreELEC releases? 1,2 or 4GB RAM?

For 1080p 1GB will be fine but if you want to use 4k go for the 2GB model. 4GB may be a bit of an overkill just for LE/Kodi.

so long,
