Last night ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) released 5 new internet channels via iView

ABC United States:

The iView service uses flash to deliver the content.

Can anybody assist with a plugin/script?

To specify; RTMP currently only works in XBMC for Linux/Mac/Windows, but not in XBMC for Xbox.

Incidentally, running XDSL and trying with Firefox2 & Flash 9.0.48 (& 9.0.152) yields streams whose audio is fine but video is too choppy to be watchable.

I wonder if the xbox is even fast enough to process the ABC iView's videos properly?

From what I can see it is just a basic series of XML files that rip .flv files directly from a server, so it shouldn't be to hard to write a plug-in for.

EDIT: buh, that .flv link doesn't work, so I guess it wasn't as simple after all and does need rtmp but the xml stuff is handy.

Have you tried out this v02 plugin ? I would like to give it a go but dont know how to use the patch file from the link ?

I'm trying to use this on my modded xbox with the latest version of XBMC rev 23675 obtained here:

I'm using the version 0.4 of the plugin by Andy Blotting obtained here:

It pretty much works, and when it does it works very well, however it seems to drop out after a few minutes.

Has anyone else tried this on any other versions of XBMC with more success?

Have you tried out this v02 plugin ? I would like to give it a go but dont know how to use the patch file from the link ?

You just need to obtain an updated version of XBMC with the new SVN rmtp patch integrated. All builds greater that r22434 should contain the patch. Then u can just put the plugin in the plugins folder of XBMC.

See the links in my above post for more details on how to obtain the latest version of XBMC and get the latest version of the plugin v0.4.

This is really a great project, especially because Iview is unmetered on Internode =)
