5.1 or 7.1 budget preamp

What I'm looking might be non-existent in the market.

Not living in Europe or the USA, but in Brazil, buying a receiver is an expensive task.

Don't even think of buying a second hand 5.1 or 7.1 receiver on eBay, because it will cost you as much as a new one on the local eBay (not called so, obviously).

My experience with receivers, quality ones, has been a bad one. The first one, an Onkyo top model lasted one year. The second one, a good Denon, lasted two years.

So I gave up on receivers and decided to go a different way, though not 5.1 channels yet.

The problem is I need inputs to be HDMI and I find that connector to be problematic one. Or at least the boards that hold HDMI inputs seem to cause problems. I even have problems with HDMI cables, some working and others not so. I have an HDMI cable tester to prove so.

Well, so I use the following:

1) HDMI selector switch box, with a small remote.

2) HDMI splitter, so I can feed a TV and a projector

3) HDMI to RCA connector, a DAC really, so I can feed a power amp

4) Stereo power amp

What I need is something that can put together units one to three. What I would call a 5.1 or 7.1 preamp, with HDMI remote selection, with the 6 or 8 RCA output analog channels.

Then I could feed a multichannel power amp that I can assemble myself.

Is there something anyone would recommend as such a preamp?
