XBMC has encountered a problem
#1
Hi guys!

Suddenly my XBMC stopped working. I'm met by a standard Windows error message (there is also a screenshot of what the event manager says about the error)

My system:
Windows XP
Nvidia 8800 GTS with newest drivers (also tried to downgrade them to older ones)

I "think" the issue started after I started an rescan of my mp3 collection and the system just froze.

What i've tried so far:
* Completely reinstalled XBMC Alpha 4.
* Tried different versions of the display drivers.

Any ideas what this might be?

you should read forumguidlines before you post, beeing a new user is not a
reason not to read something.

That said, enable "debugmode" inside xbmc, then replicate the error.
Then you find the xbmc.log file in your root xbmc directory

post the logfile in pastebin and post a link here. you should delete your old log file if you have any, before you replicate your error.

thanks for the reply.

Is it possible to enable debugmode "outside" xbmc?
Since I'm not able to start XBMC.

locate your guisettings.xml inside your userdatafolder.
find and set this string :
system>
<debuglogging>true</debuglogging>

If you dont get any log you can try to move your whole xbmc directory to a backup location, then do a fresh download and install the latest release. this just to check that something has gone corrupt.

or you could try to revert to the alpha 3 rel.

Thanks again,

This is the logfile I get, when I've enabled the debugging mode in guisettings.xml

Update your graphics drivers. You say you updated, but debug does not show that:

This is really strange, because I've reinstalled and tried three different versions of the Nvidia drivers (including 3rd party from omegadrivers) and still get the same output on those lines you are referring to.

Hmm..

Disregard my last reply. I tried nvidias 177.92 beta drivers which came out today, and now XBMC started nicelly. Thanks!
