XBMC crahs after starting - Total Newbie

I had some Windows XBMC versions installed on my PC but I just wanted to check out if the linux version runs a little bit more smoothly. The problem is that I'm totally new to the Linux game. I installed Wubi earlier this morning by following this guide "http://puttabutta.blogspot.com/2007/08/how-to-install-linux-port-of-xbox-media.html".

After I compiled it (at least I think i did) I tried to start it with "./xbmc.bin".
The XBMC logo pops up and closes immediately. The last 3 lines of the log are:

Checking skin version of: PM3.HD
The above skin isn't suitable - checking the version of the default: PM3.HD
Warning: Emergency recovery console starting...

Anyone knows what I can do?

Again sorry, totally new to Linux.

thanks,
simbla

Problem is the skin (PM3.HD) isn't installed correctly. If you're so noob, why are you compiling instead of using the PPAs?

Gonna need more info if you expect to resolve this otherwise.
