Req Kodi 20.x crash after install
#1
Hi Guys,

I am unable to install any new versions of Kodi on my MacMini.
The latest version I am using is the 19.5

Please let me know where can I upload the crash log.

Also, I might open a new threads as I am having another issue to play DVDs from menu. No matter it's in .iso or VideoTS folder, when I start play, the menu loads but cannot select anything. This is since version 18.9, that was the last one working fine with DVD menus.

Could someone please help me with these issues?

Thanks in advance

P.S.: sorry, I'm kind of a newby here, so apologies if this is a duplicate. I did use search and nothing came up with this

you can use https://paste.kodi.tv for logs and provide a link back here

full instructions here Debug Log

if they are too large then https://transfer.sh or any file sharing site like mega will be fine

Hi kambala,

So, because I cannot open the new version 20.2 to activate the debug log, I have re-installed the old working version the 18.9, activate the debug log, quit, uninstalled and re-installed the new 20.2
I am hoping the latest kodi.log in the system is the debug log now. Otherwise, I won't be able to provide log for the new 20.2 version as I am unable to open it.
Please see the link below:

Thanks

you should've read the wiki page more attentively: https://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file/Advanced

don't see anything strange in the debug log, however I suspect that it's crashing because of vfs.libarchive.19.2.0.dylib - its version hints that it for Kodi 19.x. Please try deleting the directory /Users/robertvarga/Library/Application Support/Kodi/addons/vfs.libarchive . If that doesn't help, can only suggest deleting all Kodi settings (delete or move/rename directory /Users/robertvarga/Library/Application Support/Kodi) to check if fresh install works.

Btw is there any crash report generated by macOS? You can also find crash reports in the Console.app.

Hi kembala,

Thanks for your help.
Remove the vfs.libarchive didn't work, so I removed everything related to Kodi and started with a fresh install.
So, the new 20.2 version it is working now.

Thanks again
