Win Kodi crashes when updating library - vfsrar errors
#1
Hello there, I've read some topics from the forum but I still can't find exactly why Kodi keeps crashing when scanning new content.

This issue began a long time ago; when I was running kodi 17 it was working properly, since then I'm having issues. I even rolled back to version 18 so I could use kodi properly.

When I scan for new content, on the kodi log, there are errors on the rar subpacks. If I delete the subpack, the next folder with subpacks will raise an error again. I'm not sure if this is what is causing the crashes.

What have I done:
Updated kodi
Reinstalled Kodi with a new %appdata%\kodi folder
Uninstalled Kodi and Installed Again
Removed the rar addon and reinstalled

This is the log file:
hastebin - jowererola (kodi.tv)

Thanks.

It would appears so. Check the version of VFS.rar (the one I have listed is 20.1.0 size 552kb) and (vfs.libarchive 20.3.0 488kb) in the repository. This link should provide specific versions.

If there is any possibility of changing your media to more standard archives, this would be advisable. RAR is an older archiver and has many iterations, with some no longer compatible in some instances.
