v21 Video stuttering
#1
Hi, I have issue with video stuttering when watching 4K HDR stream. Issue started to appear by updating to v21. I tried many settings as well as adjusting Cache in Services. When I open video with external player there is no stuttering at all.

I also tried to install v20.5 and there is also no stuttering. Any idea? Which difference between v20.5 and v21 can cause this?

Device: Nokia 8010 4GB RAM
Internet speed is 190 Mbit/s

Thank you

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

if you're accessing content through an addon then contact the addon developer, Kodi itself is for local content either direct connected to your device via either physical or LAN connection

your internet speed is not relevant to operating Kodi without addons, if you are using addons see above

Hi,

so here is the log file. Log

The issue I found is that when I start the video, cache forward fills up to 100% and after a while it goes down to 0 and video freezes. I can see this via Player Debug Info.

This behavior is not happening on V20.5, the cache is constantly at 100% and cache is still loading forward, no freezes.

I solved similar issue by disabling new cache option in Settings...

Okay but that would mean that there will be no cache which is important for me for high bitrate videos.

Yes but the cache settings appeared on v21. I'm not sure what he defaults were on v20 but it's possible there are some changes.

I too had some cache issues with a lagging iptv source.. while the actual reason is the slow feed, it feels like the cache is not working correctly. Once it hits 0%, it never refills. With live TV, data is coming at exact same speed as the playback speed. To fill the cache, playback would need to pause. Kodi doesn't seem to do that.

How "high" bitrate?
On my FS device I watch streaming videos with bitrate about 100mbit/s with Cache Disabled. With this new function enabled, there is no setting that will work without cache dropping to zero and then slowly filing up again...
So obviously there is some cache, as it used to be on 20.x versions...

When I open Player Debug Info I can see how cache is filling forward and after few minutes it's dropping to 0 and then It's not filling more.

Hi. I enabled SMB in settings, put there IP address of my PC and there is port 8080. Maybe that's it 🤷‍♂️ Or it's Yatse app so I can see Player Debug Info. Don't know really.

Device is on 5GHz wifi which is capable of 1Gbps.

So yeah, it's Yatse app for Player Debug Info. I've checked it now.
