just wanted to give you all an update i got xbmc updated and rmvb files open much faster, which is an excellent start, but the videos plays very jittery, like the audio will play fine but the video needs to catch up. I think this is a great that the devs made progress maybe soon they can get rmvbs to play flawlessly like avi videos do.
Thanks

Few months ago I purchased an Apple TV, and successfully installed XBMC and it is great for movies!
But my whole point of getting the aTV was to watch RMVB since this was the only RMVB option for the television.
I have used the search function on the boards and have tried Google, to look for the cure for lag and low FPS for RMVB on XBMC. There is one thread that found some sort of "workaround" which I have no clue how to install. I have posted for help and I believe that thread is not all that active anymore.
I just want to be able to watch my RMVBs smoothly with my USB stick or the local HDD.
If anyone can help me and other members who don't have a choice but RMVB, it would be great for a Tutorial or Guide to be made or a compilation of a SVN. I am terrible at programing and computers.
I would not mind paying for some help! Because the aTV has been sitting for a few months already and I don't want to put it to waste.
All help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

If no one creates a trac ticket with a patch file against current svn, this issue will NOT be looked into. This has been asked for this several times and that request is ignored. That's the way it works. Trac tickets are golden as they don't get lost in the noise of forum posts.
Also include in the trac a way to reproduce the problem so the fix can be tested. I don't do rmvb content so don't assume any other dev does it either.

Just a quick heads up, Spiff raised the following questions in the trac ticket. So if the individuals who are more aquanted with this fix could provide him with an answer (by posting to the trac ticket) that would be great:
***
1) our ffmpeg rmdec.c is identical to ffmpeg trunk (not long since we synced) - so the bit about grabbing it from ffmpeg trunk must be bollocks.
we of course updated the entire ffmpeg so we would also have the newest copy of that (atleast at that point in time).
so, can you please clear up my confusion; is this at all needed with CURRENT xbmc svn?
***
Thanks,
Harry
