I know I'll be kicked for not taking advantage of the forum's search tool...

I was wondering if XBMC for windows supports the .mkv container, and x264 or h264 codecs. I know that the actual xbox chokes on HD video, but I was wondering if with enough horsepower, could XBMC on a windows or linux machine handle it.

I would try this, but I don't have any HD content available. I'm debating on getting a blu-ray drive and backing up my blu-ray videos.

So if someone could let me know that'd be great.

Oh, and does anyone know a good method for ripping blu--ray and then re-encoding?

Yes, it supports it. On Windows, Linux, and Mac.

I have a quad-core and it runs HD content just fine.

Do you have any idea what programs to use to rip & re-encode blu-ray disks?

oh, your name wouldn't be a reference to the Broadway play would it? I ended up by chance in new york last year and had the opportunity to see it

I personally have never ripped a blue-ray, but this tool looks like it does the job.
